January 6, 2002 Chad will be piloting the #22 Lola/Nissan SRP2 entry for defending series Champions Archangel Motorsports Services at the 2002 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. Chad is very excited and had this to say; "This is really an opportunity of a lifetime for me, it will give me a chance to show people that im not only quick in a star mazda or open wheel car, but that i can also pilot a larger car, and can handle the mental stresses of endurance racing. I have a feeling this will present me with some opportunities for the future. Mike Johnson and the Archangel team have proven themselves to be top-notch, all I have to do is fit my part of the puzzle, and I'm sure we will produce something great. Luckily my sponsors CyberGrad, AutoSporTTuning, and hopefully another to be announced shortly, are giving me this opportunity to jump into another pool of racing talent and expand my resume, it should just be awesome. I am very grateful to Mike Johnson for making the seat available to me, I am confident we will produce the same type of results his team has for the last two seasons. Steve Knight, of Knighthawk racing, has been great to work with, and I'm looking forward to working with my other drivers, Mel Hawkins, and Brian DeVries, we should be impressive." In speaking to Mike Johnson, owner of the Championship Archangel team, he had this to say about his new driver (after testing at daytona in a car that was not quite up to speed): " We have been very impressed with Chad thus far. He is proving to the team and the sportscar community that he has the ability to lead a group of fine gentleman drivers to great success on the track. Endurance racing is different than sprint racing, and Chad has open to and accepting of the challenges that endurance racing offers" Road Atlanta based, Archangel Motorsport Services, has entered eight drivers in two SRP-II cars for 40th Running of The Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway on February 2-3, 2002. Piloting the #22 CYBERGRAD and DNTLworks Nissan Powered Lola B2K/40 will be Chad Block,Steve Knight, Mel Hawkins, and Brian DeVries. Driving the #21 Budweiser Nissan Powered Lola B2K/40 will be Jeff Clinton, Jeff Tillman, Curtis Francois, and Larry Connor. Both cars will have additional sponsorship from Speedcom Communications, Valvoline, REM, Stand21 Racewear, Hella Lights, and will run on the new Dunlop spec tire. The team has their Nissan 3.0 Liter V-6 Engines Serviced at Advanced Engine Research. The entire 24 hours will be aired live on SpeedVision. Stay Tuned for more current news on Chad.
