With Daytona in a few weeks, the 2002 opening season will begin before we know it. With the rise of the new season driver's often scramble to land a position with a team in a competitive environment. Chad Block is doing just that. It is rumored that Chad will contend the entire ALMS series this season in an lmp 675 class car, but with what team and chassis combo is not known.

Chad had this to say:
"I'm not able to say definetly what I will be driving this season and for who. I can only tell you this, my goal is to pilot one of the new Lola.Mg 675 prototypes, and I won't settle for anything less. Right now I am negotiating the funding I need to run a full season, and hopefully we would get an invitation to Le Mans. This is nothing definite, however right now things are headed in the right direction. The MG has proven it can be on pace with the full size Audi R8 lmp 900 car, so what would be blast. It will also be great to be at the same venues as the Star Mazda Series,a series which in the past season has given me credibility with the racing world. If I land a ride with a top-notch team and get the Star series some exposure as my learning ground then that would be icing on the cake."

When asked "Which team would you be running for, and who will you be teamed with?" Chad responded with:

"I dont want to do anything, and not to do it 100%, i learned in the past, if you cant do that, dont do it at all. The options I have are with teams that are top-notch Championship winning caliber teams. I have a lot to learn, so I am going to place myself with the best to get where I want to be. As far as teammates, which im asked often, I am not certain. But there are a couple of guys I would love to have along side me, one major person being my good friend Jason LaPoint, he hasn't been given fair consideration in Atlantics, and I believe he could stamp his name in the sportscar commmunity. I'd love to do it together, I'm sure it would be entertaining along the way. When I say i wouldn't mind driving with Scott Bradley people laugh "he's the guy that won the mazda championship isn't he?"....makes me laugh... I'd love to drive again with guys I raced with, so we can prove we are all talented, its kind of a mutual respect. They have their own programs, but it would be fun. We will see...."

More to come soon.
