In just Chad's first professional Endurance race, he and his Archangel Motorsport's teammates managed a 6th overall and 2nd place in class, out of 74 cars that started the race. Chad led the driver line-up of himself, Steve Knight, Mel Hawkins, and Brian DeVries. In the closing two hours Chad made up over 5 laps to move the #22 Gestetner/DNTLworks lolanissan from 7th to 6th overall.

Chad had this to say after the race:
"This is such an awesome feeling!!! To be here on the podium in Daytona's Victory Lane in my first ever outing in this type of racing is fantastic. This wouldnt have been possible without the support of Gestetner, they really made this happen for me, I can't thank them enough. I also need to thank Steve Knight, Mel Hawkins, Brian DeVries...and of course Mike Johnson and all of the guys at Archangel. Everyone was very supportive. I hope I can carry this momentum and these partnerships through the entire 2002 season."

Chad had taken the green flag on saturday afternoon from 25th place on the grid, where he qualified the car, which was down on power. The car was fixed before the 1pm start time, and by the time Chad passed on the driving duties to Steve Knight Chad had moved into 11th overall.

In the night session Chad did double duty, 3 hours in the car, and set the fastest times of anyone on the team by over 2 seconds By the end of the race Chad said he definetly had learned some things... "It was really awesome passing on the high banks, you just had to be aware of who was around you at all times....the humidity, heat and darkness didnt help...but we managed to run a fairly clean race...I had some close calls, but nothing worth much."

"I cant wait to do this again next year if I have the opportunity. Only next time, I will be at the top of the podium, waving our banners high and proud. The support of Gestetner, Archangel, my other drivers, and my family gave me the confidence to know I could perform in my first professional outing."
